Kambu/ Pearl millet has following health benefits:

Nutrient contents per 100gms :
Proteins- 8.3gms, Calcium- 27gms,
Fibre- 9gms, Iron- 0.5 gms
- Kambu Powder – 3-4 tbsp
Palm Sugar – 2 tbsp
Coconut Milk – 1/2 cup
Cardamom Powder – 1/4 tbsp
Water- 1.5 cups
Sliced Banana -1
Buttermilk – 2 cups
Garlic – 2 pods
Cumin Powder – 1/2 tsp
Ginger Powder – 1/4 tsp
- In a heavy bottomed pan mix the kambu powder with water and cardamom powder. Place the pan on medium flame and stir untill it thickens.
Remove from flame and add the palm sugar and stir well.
Once the porridge has cooled down, add the coconut milk. Serve at room temperature.
Garnish with sliced bananas and enjoy the authentic rural dessert drink of Pollachi.
- Mix the Kambu Powder with buttermilk, chopped garlic and salt in a heavy bottomed pan. Place the pan on medium flame and cook till it thickens. (12-15 mins)
Remove from flame and add cumin and ginger powder
Garnish with coriander and enjoy the authentic Pollachi Cooler.
